Changes to Illinicare’s Pre-Auth Requirements
Illinicare announced some upcoming changes to their pre-authorization requirements. While the changes affect multiple specialties, podiatry will see the biggest modification. Effective May 1, 2019, Illinicare will no longer require authorizations for podiatry visits and “podiatry-related debridement and wound care.” This change should remove a significant burden on podiatry offices that has limited their ability to treat Illinicare patients, particularly those with chronic issues requiring frequent care.
Other services that will no longer require authorization as of May 1st include:
– Office consults
– Trigger point injections
– Cardiac and pulmonary rehab
Services with new or additional pre-authorization requirements as of May 1st include:
– All ear, nose, and throat outpatient procedures
– All musculoskeletal orthopedic and spinal surgical procedures
The new rules will be listed on Illinicare’s website as of April 1st, 2019.
