Illinois Medicaid Cutting Reimbursement
As a part of statewide cuts to plug a $1.6 billion budget hole for the 2014-2015 fiscal year, the government had directed Illinois Medicaid to cut reimbursement for most services by 16.75%. These cuts will affect charges with dates of service from May 1st through June 30th.
Further cuts remain possible as Governor Rauner has pushed to lower state spending starting in the 2015-2016 fiscal year. Specifically, Governor Rauner has proposed slashing the Medicaid budget by $1.5 billion, which
includes reinstating the dental and podiatric coverage limits enacted in 2012, but then removed by Governor Quinn in 2013. The cuts are part of the Governor’s broad budget reform plan to close the state’s $6 billion deficit.
