Public Aid Announces Payment Freeze

The state of Illinois failed to pass a budget for the fiscal year that began on July 1st. Accordingly, Public Aid announced that it can not pay for any claims with dates of service on or after July 1st until a budget is passed. Claims with dates of service in June and earlier will continue to be paid.

Public Aid stated that providers can continue to file new claims and that they will be paid retroactively once a budget is approved. Replacement and managed care plans are to continue paying claims through July and Au- gust, but will have to freeze payments starting in September unless a new budget is approved.
