MIPS Low-volume Threshold to Increase
The government recently released its proposed rule for changes to MACRA and the MIPS program for 2018. Most notable among the changes is a large increase in the low-volume threshold that determines participation eligibility.
Currently, providers who receive less than $30,000 a year in Medicare receipts or see less than 100 patients are not eligible to participate in MIPS. The proposed rule intends to raise that limit to less than $90,000 in yearly receipts or 200 Medicare patients.
Should your practice fall below this threshold in 2018, you will not be eligible to participate in the program, which means your receipts can not be positively adjusted, but nor can you receive a penalty.
