Public Aid Podiatry Coverage Expansion

Governor Quinn signed a bill on Monday June 16th to include adult podiatric care under Medicaid coverage, reversing the limitation enacted in 2012. Per the law, new coverage for non-diabetic adults is to take effect no earlier than October 1st. The coverage expansion will be funded by federal subsidies associated with the Afford- able Care Act. The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services has not yet commented on the new law. We will post details once they establish a firm date for coverage to take effect.
